Brandon's friend, Almon, came up to visit us for the weekend! He's the one who lives in San Diego that we visit....
I wanted to go somewhere where neither of them had been before and tossed a coin between Hollywood and Venice Beach - Venice Beach won and WOW! It was pretty amazing on all kinds of levels. A first time visit for all of us and probably the BEST place for people watching. I can say that even after living in Manhattan! Truly amazing people watching!
We started our day with lunch at Baby Blues BBQ - I heard about his place from a show on Food Network and how good it was. Barbecue here on the west coast means hamburgers and hot dogs. I'm sorry, but us "Southern folk" just can't accept that! Thank heavens we found this place! Amazing food: ribs, collard greens, mac-n-cheese, cornbread, and good sweet tea! Of course I took a tea to go too :) Now we have a place to go when the southern food cravings start to call....

They boys were all over this.....
It was just nasty.
And the everyday Mary Jane shops trying to get your business.....

The beach was actually really nice - soft sand :)
But cold water, just isn't the same.....
