Just returned from grocery shopping!
I've got a 2 store comparison for your viewing pleasure :)
In metro on our way to CARREFOUR:
(like a Super Wal-Mart, they got food, appliances, etc.)
But first, lunch and a drink!
Then shopping......and it begins.......
?????
eggs!
bins of meat! choose what you want! people pick this stuff up by hand and walk around! grody!
typical store view.
marinated mystery meat!
more meat bins....
not a rubber chicken, folks.....
the dried meat section.
and the live seafood section.....
yes, that is a LIVE turtle packaged for eating :(
I dont' like this section.
snake/eel things....
pick what you want!
FROGS!
bakery.
fruits/veggies section.
Frozen Section.
with strange eggs.....
lunch meat section.
they are serious about shop lifters!
anyone, anyone???
After all of that and a couple of hours in the store, we walk out with coat hangers, two frozen imported hamburger patties, granola bars, frozen dumplings and steam buns, wash cloths, soap, and a new non-stick skillet.
strange grocery bags for purchase.....
cashiers have wings - check out their hats!
We hopped into a cab for the ride home - the closest metro stop is about a 20min walk - fine with empty bags but not full ones!
Later we headed to CITYSHOP - a much more benign shopping experience catering to expats with all of the imported items they carry:
candy and sweets up front.
typical layout of the store.
that's a $13 box of Cheez-its people!
fruits and veggies.
dairy and lunch meats.
but still some oddly packaged meats.
yep. a black chicken!
Kingsford!
strangest diaper display ever.
Much better shopping here! Doesn't freak me out as much!
And look! We even found Bisquick!
Just a 'normal' shopping day now!
Thanks for joining us :)
