Split Baby Pants Phenomenon

Chinese babies do not wear diapers.  No diapers.  Instead, their parents dress them in split baby pants i.e. crotchless pants split from front to back letting everything freely flow.  And I mean freely.  The parents carry the babies (whole other issue of no carriers or car seats) so their butt cheeks are exposed and bare butt skin is on bare arm skin.  It disturbs me.  What if the baby pees?  Or worse, poos!  I've seen plenty of peeing in China even with these babies.  The parents just hold them up and let it go; maybe over a trash can or kindly over a flower bed but usually just where ever they are at the time.  Kids are lucky if there is a wipe in sight.  Maybe the natural air helps prevent rashes....
And what do you think these pants look like at the end of the day?!  Ack!

Generally these split baby pants are left to the babies but the other day on the metro, I saw an older child, borderline too old for a toddler, wearing these phenomenal pants and letting everything hang out.  It was awkward and everyone thought he was cute dancing around the train letting it all swing about.

I haven't yet been able to capture a photo of these pants, usually I just stare in disbelief at the baby's butt but figured you should know what goes on over here!  Found some photos online so here you go:

Know of anyone having a baby?  I'll gladly ship some crotchless baby pants over for them!
