BBQ Date Night

Brandon was off work yesterday so we headed out for a date night dinner!  Several weeks ago, we passed a bbq place in Pasadena so thought we'd give it a try.  But you know....we're pretty picky :)

The ambience started off GREAT:

 

Right!

BBQ = 1,  B&D = 1

We're tied b/c Brandon and I always have good ambience ;)

Our waiter came by the table, super nice, and I asked for sweet tea - I had to check!

NOPE :(

BBQ = 1,  B&D = 2

We both ordered bbq plates that came with cornbread, creamy coleslaw or coleslaw with blue cheese and pecans - um, yes please!!!

Coleslaw a WIN:

 

BBQ = 2,  B&D = 2

Then what I will call the "California Cornbread"....

 

I mean, blueberry cornbread????

Actually super yummy but for breakfast!  We couldn't eat it with the meal so we took it home and ate it for breakfast this morning.

Then the FOOD:

 

Brandon got the spare ribs with garlic mashed red potatoes....

And I got.....

 

The half rack of baby back ribs with mac n cheese.

I also ordered us a side of cajun creamed corn.

Decision time:

The ribs - just okay.  They weren't "fall of the bone" like we like.....

And my ribs were SO spicy!  So Brandon gave me a couple of his.  They said "zesty" but even the cajun corn was milder!

The sides:

These were actually very good!

BBQ = 3,  B&D = 4

Overall, we won - wasn't the best but we'd go back to try something else.

And come on, just look at the pic of the place - I loved it!
