In exploring this new city we live in, we decided to walk around the streets in our neighborhood of Lujiazui to see what we could find. This is the newer part of Shanghai. The famous Pearl Tower is at the tip of the peninsula formed by a bend in the Huangpu River.

That's our apartment building in the middle of the photograph:
And our apartment when zoomed in upon! See my drying rack in the window!
The white boxes in the window is our water dispenser and 2 air purifiers....
Super deep window ledges so they get utilized!
And we live in the shadows of these beauties:
We can see them from our apartment!
From left to right: Shanghai World Financial Center (or Can-Opener Building), the Jin Mao Tower (my favorite in Shanghai; has a fun bar Cloud 9 on the 87th floor) and the under construction Shanghai Tower (when complete it will be the tallest building in Shanghai and second tallest in the world!)
The above picture deserves an explanation, I know.
On our way to the park via the footbridge, we came across this lovely fellow and I pretended to snap a picture of the park only wanting him. It get VERY hot and HUMID here in Shanghai. Having lived in the South but then in the lovely dry heat of California, I've either forgotten completely what it feels like or this is just worse. The men here are regularly seen with their shirts above their bellies trying to cool off. This particular gent had it pulled up over his nipple. I thought it was funny.
Classical music festival in the park during the summer:
Lujiazui Greenland (park):
as if anyone was paying attention to these signs....
Love these sculptures! They are so big, we can see them from our apartment as our view overlooks the park.
Pretty greenery :)
There is also a small lake and art exhibit in the park. Will have to grab more photos to share!
As we walked to the opposite side of the park, B was in heaven when we came across this cat clan!
Just laying in the shade enjoying the day - told him he can go visit them anytime!
Some had collars so probably wandered into the park from a nearby apartment complex....
We then began to follow the river as it wrapped its way back to the Pearl Tower.
B found himself in a conundrum:
Bad, Fu Dog, Bad!
And then we came upon this gorgeous bell!
Everything was in Chinese so no clue of its history but the red sure pops against the Shanghai gray!
Clouds and mist rolled in the next day but led to some great shots of the skyscrapers!
So mysterious when the tops of buildings just disappear.....
